Some Motivational Thoughts for today….

I like to read emails…the ones that make you smile…think …and motivate. I hate spam just as much as the other person or those chain letters that predict I will have fifteen years of bad luck if I do not send it around.

Yesterday I received a beautiful email that said excellent thoughts and as I was reading them…I thought this is really awesome…words by which everyone should live by…

I am sharing one of them here now….

So many times we lose faith. Solutions are always there...we just have to believe

Losing Weight Takes Effort…

Its 4 am on Saturday morning, I lay on the bed…look up the ceiling, half awake. “Should I go to exercise? ” a voice in my head asked.”Oh gosh, why bother, today is Saturday…you deserve a rest. Look the bed is so comfy” Another voice answered “It is best you get up… because you owe it to yourself”

For two minutes, the voices of their own had a conversation, till finally I dragged myself out of bed and decided I would get up and go to exercise. Losing weight takes effort. Ask anyone…ask the person next to you…Ask Christie Alley…Ask Oprah and they all tell you…losing weight takes effort and sometimes you have to dig deep inside of you for that effort.

When I arrived at the Stadium…not many people was there as yet and I said to myself I could have stayed at home. Yet still I shrugged and moved on to walk the 6 laps round the Savannah as requested by my trainer, Shawn. One and half hours later, my feet were killing me. I was ready to have a shower and go straight back to bed. Instead, someone talked me into joining the group for an aerobics class…and I could not believe it was my voice saying “I’ll be there”

It was the first Saturday that I have ever showed up for an exercise class and right after take an aerobics session. The aerobics was invigorating as we move to the spca music Super Blue. The music lifted my legs because without it…I would lie own flat out and not move. But I loved to danced. In my younger days, I danced all night regardless of the song or the aches and pains. It is like if you ever play mas in our country. We dressed in our costumes and start from as early as 8.00 am and danced in the streets until evening for two days. It is exciting and  liberating,

At the end of the workout…I went home and look at the mirror. I saw myself feeling motivated…fulfiled. Yes, losing weight takes effort and I fought the beast for yet another day.

Start Your Day Right – Morning Exercise!

This morning, I was up at 3.00 a.m. There was no alarm clock, just my body seem to be in tune with waking up early to start my morning exercise.  For the last five weeks, I must have missed exercising three mornings due to a foot injury. And I really missed it.

There is something about waking up early to exercise. It is a challenge to get off your cozy bed when you wish you could just stay five more minutes. But I challenge myself everyday because in the end I feel that I have accomplished something for me.

I have decided on the days that I am not exercising with my trainer, I will walk 3 miles. This is six times around a  nearby  Savannah.  I like waking up and watch the people who are there with me going about their own business. There was  man in his thirties who was exercising with his father. Men in their sixties running around chasing each other. One lady was limping but yet still she walked on. Many people were jogging and I am inspired by these people.

For my part, when I started one round was so difficult far less accomplishing the six laps. By the third lap, I wanted to give up and say enough is enough.  Those benches round the Savannah had my name on it…I was sure. But I shook my head and kept on walking.  This is not only about losing weight but being healthy.

I am not sure if walking will help in my weight loss but I do know that my clothes fit better and I feel healthier. It is easy to give up..when you your mind says you cannot do it. But I focus instead on the song playing on my mp3 and started dancing and walking. I have made up my mind to become the best I can be. To live my best life ever and it means sticking to my program of exercise and keep fit. After all I have exercised for the last five weeks, so why should i give up now?

I hated exercising just as much as the next person. But here I am walking round and round like there was no stopping me now.

Sweat pouring down my face, legs hurting like crazy but I had a smile on my face. One hour later and I walked six laps around the Savannah.

I did it! What a wonderful feeling!  I walked 3 miles today for a healthier me. I started my day right with morning exercise!  You can do it too!!

Happy Mother’s Day

Today is a special day…to recognise all mothers. To recognise and be recognised for all the hard work we have done…A time to put up our feet and say we are going to relax just for once.

But knowing many of us…bad habits are hard to break. We put up our feet and  just as we close our eyes…we remember something that needs to be done now LOL.

To all women…whether you are a birth mother or an adopted mother…a caring aunt…I wish you the very best on this special day. Be good to yourself…be happy and most of all be grateful for all your blessings. You are loved and cherished in this world

I leave you with some quotations on Mothers

~Tenneva Jordan so aptly stated:

A mother is a person who seeing there are only four pieces of pie for five people, promptly announces she never did care for pie.

Abraham Lincoln stated this on mothers:

“The heart of a mother is a deep abyss at the bottome of which you will always find forgiveness”

Aristotle so wittingly stated

Mothers are fonder than fathers of their children because they are more certain they are their own.

Don’t Give Up On Weight Loss…

I know many of you have given up on weight loss. I’ve been there and I understand how it feels. You are at your wit’s end. You have tried it all and so you believe nothing is going to work again. You feel frustrated by failure and  overwhelmed by it all. You just don’t know what to do. . Now you believe it’s impossible for them to lose weight.

I quit!

Take heart, it is not that bad. I’m happy to tell you that I would have been your cheerleader in that band.  I have been there and I can tell you  I thought I hated exercising and drinking water. I thought I could not eat healthy.

You must first believe that this weight loss is a lifelong journey. It is not only about losing the weight that is the primary goal…but becoming healthy. After all I did not put on this weight overnight.  YOU can lose weight with a little guidance and faith in yourself.

First of all, relax. There is no fast, quick way to weight loss. Realizing this means any small change will take effect over time. Time is on your side. Unless we come to this realisation and take control of our mind, the weight will come off easily and effortlessly. I can tell you it is a struggle everyday. I am up at 5.00 am and I do cardio training three times a week and walking one mile to two miles on the other four days. The weight is coming off slowly but I am challenging myself. My goal is to lose six pounds and be a healthier person for myself and then for my family.

If we look at people who have been successful at weight loss and maintaining that loss, a couple of things are very apparent. These two factors are present in the lives of most of them:

1. They do some form of aerobic exercise 5 to 7 days per week. It’s as simple as talking a walk each evening. Do it minimally 5 times a week for 30 to 45 minutes at a time.

2. They have developed more healthy eating habits. Healthy eating habits are also very important. More fruit or vegetables instead of candy cake and pie on 5 days out out 7 make the difference.

So be good to your body today…do not let doubts and frustration get the better of you. We can do this together. Take time and write down your goals today…believe you can do it. Weightloss is but a challenge and be prepared to fight the good fight.

Hey if I can do it…Ms Procrastinator… Ms Coca Cola Queen…Ms I cannot drink water because it gives me headache…. You can do it!! I did cardio training for one hour and then I decided to challenge myself to walk half a mile…It is not difficult when you change your thinking and motivate yourslf.

All it requires is to take a new perspective on life and do it before it it is too late.
